During the period of time between the 2018 Ofsted inspection and the October 2023 Ofsted inspection, Lapford school experienced a lot of turbulence.  In addition to the impact caused by Covid, the Head of School left and there were lots of changes to the staff team.  In 2022, a new Head of School was appointed as well as an executive headteacher responsible for the Trust primary schools.

In 2023, the school received a 'Requires Improvement' judgement.  This was a fair judgement at the time, and the areas listed for improvement had already been identified by senior leaders and were being worked on.  In November 2024, a school inspection review was arranged to validate the many improvements and changes that have taken place over the past year.  The school improvement visit was undertaken by an experienced school improvement adviser with extensive experience of supporting schools across the South West region. The report reflects the many strengths of Lapford and demonstrates that the school continues to provide an effective quality of education for its pupils.  The report is below.
